Our beef cows are 100% grass fed. We raise a mixture of various breeds of beef cattle. We currently have a mix of Senepol, Angus, Red Angus, Hereford, Devon, and Charolais genetics in the mix and are searching for the optimal breed or cross that does well in the North Carolina heat when being raised 100% on grass.
We practice Management Intensive Grazing (MIG) which means we break our pastures into small areas that are eaten down in just a few days and then move the cows to fresh new grass several times a week. We never feed our cows grain because it is not part of a cow’s natural diet, it makes them sick and increases the acidity of their rumen which increases the risk of e-coli poisoning in humans.
